Star Wars: The High Republic authors to be featured on episode of Disney Insider

The Disney+ series Disney Insider is going behind the scenes with the High Republic authors in a new episode.

Lucasfilm and its publishing division kicked off a big new initiative last week, the launch of the Star Wars: The High Republic series. The titles are already beginning to come out, including Charles Soule’s Light of the Jedi novel. And it looks like the first venture has been a sweeping success when it comes to the new era of lore that the authors are building upon in the Star Wars universe.

Now, part of that building process is going to be revealed in an upcoming episode of the Disney+ series Disney Insider. On Monday, Disney+ shared a trailer for episode 7 of the series, which comes out Jan. 15. And in this episode, authors who created The High Republic series are going to be profiled. The Disney Insider series goes behind the scenes to take a look at various jobs under the Disney umbrella, from profiling Disney directors to American Idol judge Katy Perry. Yes, Disney covers a lot of ground, so naturally profiling people under Lucasfilm would be a great next addition to the unscripted series.

The episodes are typically split up into three parts, with each roughly 20-minute episode highlighting three different Disney-related careers. So while the whole episode won’t be dedicated to how the Star Wars authors built The High Republic universe, we’ll still get plenty of information about how they brought this bold, new vision to life.

For anyone who’s kept up with The High Republic so far, Star Wars has absolutely packed us with information leading up to the release of the literary series. First, it came with a video announcement about Project Luminous and the reveal that the mysterious project was the High Republic series. Next, the authors appeared at a virtual panel for New York Comic Con. And just last week, Star Wars held another extensive panel (nearly an hour-long) as a celebratory launch event. And in between that, the official Star Wars website had been publishing many new previews, interviews and other articles about The High Republic.

Needless to say, if you’ve kept up with all of the High Republic promo content, you probably know just about all there is to know about the creation of the series. Still, one extra behind-the-scenes look doesn’t hurt. And this next episode of Disney Insider should still be quite fascinating.
