Star Wars: The High Republic is off to an impressive start, and its novels are already best-sellers.
Star Wars is putting itself on the map again, and this time it’s for the new literary series Star Wars: The High Republic. The series launched just last week beginning Tuesday, Jan. 5. And over a week later, it’s already receiving high honors on the charts.
Both Star Wars: Light of the Jedi and Star Wars: A Test of Courage are now certified New York Times best-selling books! On Wednesday, Disney Publishing publicity manager Lyssa Hurvitz tweeted the news (via Fantha Tracks) and showed the two lists the books are officially on. On the list she shared, the debut novel Light of the Jedi by Charles Soule peaked at no. 1 on the list of Hardcover Fiction. And the book A Test of Courage by Justina Ireland peaked at no. 2 for Children’s Middle Grade Hardcover books.
Over on the New York Times best-sellers list online, Light of the Jedi is also no. 2 on the Combined Print & E-Book Fiction list — so there are many honors for these new Star Wars books!
Also on Twitter, Charles Soule himself shared a message about his excitement for Light of the Jedi becoming a NYT best-seller. (It even seems like before the list was released, he was hoping for some good news.) Soule also celebrated fellow author Justina Ireland’s accomplishment of getting on the list in a second tweet.
Ireland shared her excitement on Twitter after hearing the news as well. Here’s what she had to say:

It’s good news all around, and now that we’ve kicked off 2021, Star Wars is ready to build this new era of Star Wars history — and of course, there’s a lot more to come from The High Republic era. There are still comics and a multitude of other books set to come out that have and haven’t been announced yet.
Some think it’s only a matter of time before The High Republic series becomes adapted for screens. But for now, it’s nice that readers get to have this special opportunity to experience the world of Star Wars through books.
