In a new book coming in March, actor Daisy Ridley shares her personal connections to her character Rey. Digital Spy got a first look at the new Star Wars: Age of Resistance book and just shared an exclusive excerpt.

Star Wars: Age of Resistance the Official Collector’s Edition is published by Titan Comics and comes out on March 9. The book is a behind-the-scenes look at the creation and production of Episodes VII-IX: The Force Awakens, The Last Jedi and The Rise of Skywalker.

The book also includes exclusive interviews with the cast and crew of the films, including character guides, photography and production art.

In the section on Rey, Ridley said the “similarities were really nice” between her and her character. She said the welcoming environment of the Star Wars sets “translated into Rey.”

More of the excerpt shared by Digital Spy:

"“Family is what Star Wars is all about,” recalls actress Daisy Ridley, who plays Rey. “The family thing translated everywhere. Even on set, it felt like a family. It’s that feeling of bonding, everywhere. Rey is trying to find her place in this world in the same way I was trying to find my place in the world. The similarities were really nice. Because I felt so welcomed, and taken in, and people seemed to care how I felt, that translated into Rey. She suddenly had these people who cared about her, and she was finding her place within that.”"

The chapter also chronicles Rey’s journey from a lonely scavenger on the harsh desert world of Jakku to discovering her family among the Resistance and uncovering her power and legacy as a woman strong in the Force.

In an interview with the film’s stunt coordinator, the chapter details Rey’s background as a scrappy fighter who had to make her own way on Jakku. The book explains how Ridley trained four days a week for five hours a day “to look like a scavenger who worked, ran, climbed, and fought almost every day of her life.”

The book features photography and art of key moments in Rey’s story, including early sketches of the character and a blueprint of her iconic speeder.
