Character History:
The ancestor of Jango and Boba Fett was a key player during the infamous Mandalorian Wars, circa 3976 BBY. Fett was the aide-de-camp to Mandalore the Ultimate and was responsible for taking the Mandalorians from a barbaric tribe of world conquerors to a more unified and fine-tuned war machine. To accomplish this, Fett took inspiration from a Mandalorian cult called the Neo-Crusaders that utilized a singular style of armor, a hierarchical system of command, as well a labor division.
Fett expanded on this cults system by color-coding the armors so as to make it easier to distinguish rank. Blue was the color worn by the lowest ranks, followed by red, and then gold for those of the highest rank like himself. Fett also changed the Mandalorians from mere conquerors of worlds, to assimilating those whom they defeated into their culture. By implementing these changes, Fett helped to turn the Mandalorians into an organization that could rival the Republic.
Cassus Fett reputation was much like that of Darth Vader during his time. Besides his tactical mind, he was also known for his ruthlessness against the enemy. Fett’s most atrocious act committed during the Mandalorian Wars was his attack on the planet Cathar and its people of the same name. His reason for nearly exterminating this entire species was vindictive rather than justified since he wanted to make an example of them for past defeats against his people.
Not everyone agreed with Fett, as was evident from a lone Mandalorian that stood in defense of the Cathar people and begged his superior to show mercy. Rather than listen to one of his own, Fett chose instead to execute this courageous, but defiant Mandalorian along with the enemy. Years later this dark moment in galactic history would be discovered during an investigation by the Jedi known as Revan who took the mask of this Mandalorian and wore it their honor.
Fett also clashed with another rival of his named Pulsipher who had discovered a Sith artifact on the planet, Taris. This artifact — called the Muur Talisman — would later unleash a deadly plague on the nearby moon, Jebble, that transformed both Mandalorians and civilians on the planet into demonic creatures called the Rakghouls.
Zayne Carrick, a former Jedi padawan, who had witnessed these transformations, warned the incoming Mandalorian of this threat in an attempt to prevent its spread. After some hesitation, Fett ultimately heeded the Jedi’s warning and bombarded the planet’s surface from above with orbital nuclear missiles that wiped out all life on the surface including both the Rakghouls and his rival, Pulsipher, who commanded them.
Cassus Fett’s fate was unknown, but he was presumed to have died sometime during, or after the Battle of Malachor V, where the superweapon called the Mass Shadow Generator eradicated countless lives on both opposing sides. Fett’s legacy would live on through his clan, which ultimately brought forth two of the greatest bounty hunters to roam the galaxy, Jango and Boba Fett.
Powers/Skills: Cassus Fett was a master tactician who excelled at planning and executing his military strategies to maximum effect. He spoke several languages, including his native Mando’a, and High Galactic. He was also a formidable warrior, adept at both hand-to-hand combat and weapons fighting.
Weapon(s): Fett’s weapon of choice was a heavy blaster pistol. He was also known to lead his troops from atop a customized Basilisk War Droid. Fett’s preferred weapon when attacking mass populations was the fission weapons used on the Mandalorian Kandosii-type warships.
Wait, how you’d get that?: A suit of Cassus Fett’s armor was acquired by a merchant named Adum Larp of Dantooine and his heavy blaster pistol would likewise come into the possession of B’ree, a Czerka Corporation merchant on Korriban. Both of these could be purchased by players of the Knights of the Old Republic PC game.
