Hello there, Ewan McGregor! General Kenobi is looking more fit than ever in a recent post shared on social media, and it’s hard not to love seeing the actor prepare to return to the Star Wars franchise.

In the upcoming Disney+ series Obi-Wan Kenobi, actor Ewan McGregor is set to return to the titular role for the first time since he last played the character 15 years ago in Episode III: Revenge of the Sith.

Little is known about the plot or tone of the series, except for that it will take place between Episode III and Episode IV and that it will apparently feature a showdown between Kenobi and Darth Vader, who will be played by Hayden Christensen.

If the recent pics of McGregor have anything to do with his preparation for the series, fans could be seeing a different Kenobi vs. Vader fight than the one we see in A New Hope, and something closer to the showdown we see in the prequel trilogy.

Professional trainer Tony Horton recently shared a picture of McGregor from one of their workouts to Instagram, and they surely would make Dutchess Satine swoon.

Ewan McGregor gets fit for Kenobi series

Seeing McGregor go through intense physical training leaves fans wondering what this could mean for his future appearance in the franchise. Disney has had a track record of getting its actors in peak shape for action roles, including a recent bulking for comedian Kumail Nanjiani to appear in Marvel Studio’s The Eternals.

If Ewan McGregor is in fact getting in shape to play Kenobi, we may see more than just an aging Jedi wandering the deserts of Tatooine. Especially considering Kathleen Kennedy teased a “rematch of the century” between Kenobi and Vader, it’s possible we get a rematch of Mustafar proportions between the Sith Lord and his former Jedi Master.

Filming on Obi-Wan Kenobi is set to begin this spring 2021.
