14. Chirrut Imwe and Baze Malbus

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story was a dark movie, showing the darkest parts of the Galactic Civil War. But in the midst of this darkness, two characters who are fully committed to the Force and yet not Force-sensitive themselves stand out as light in the darkness. It might be more accurate to say that Chirrut Imwe was fully committed to the Force and Baze Malbus was fully committed to the protection of his friend. Chirrut and Baze were inseparable, and not just because Chirrut was blind. For Chirrut, blindness was only a small limitation, one that he seemed to easily overcome again and again to take out stormtroopers with ease.

Together, Chirrut and Baze were Guardians of the Whills, members of a religious group tasked with protecting the Jedi temple on Jedha. When Jedha is destroyed by the Death Star, the two join Jyn Erso and Cassian Andor to fight for the rebellion. They both prove to be instrumental in the mission to steal the Death Star plans and eventually give their lives to this cause. Their friendship is one to be envied because they clearly find strength in their friendship. They’re stronger together, and together, they trust in the Force even when it seems the Force is nowhere to be found.
