11. Han Solo and Chewbacca

Han Solo and Chewbacca are one of the most iconic duos in Star Wars. Their friendship is fun to watch because even though we can’t speak Wookiee, we somehow understand Chewbacca through Han. And Chewbacca is always calling Han out on his foolishness. Their relationship starts when the two are forced to fight one another in Solo before the two realize they have something in common. Thus begins a partnership that lasts for the next several decades.

When the Empire falls, Han fulfills a vow to help Chewbacca free his homeworld of Kashyyyk and reunite with his family. When Ben Solo turns to the dark side and Han feels like he can’t face Leia anymore, Chewbacca joins him as he returns to the life of smuggling they both knew before meeting Leia. And tragically, when Han is killed by Kylo Ren, Chewbacca, who probably knew Ben Solo well, reacts in anger and devastation at the loss of his friend.
