6. Anakin Skywalker and Ahsoka Tano

Perhaps the most interesting concept about the The Clone Wars animated series was the idea of Anakin Skywalker having a Padawan of his own. Not only did the concept work well with fans; Anakin’s Padawan Ahsoka Tano became one of the most loved characters in all of Star Wars. Though their initial interactions were tense, marked by Anakin’s arrogance and sense that he didn’t need a Padawan slowing him down and Ahsoka’s tenacity, over time they learned to appreciate each other, giving each other the nicknames of Snips and Skyguy. Anakin and Ahsoka learned to have each other’s backs time and time again.

When Star Wars fans think of the attachment that led Anakin to the dark side, they naturally think of Padme, but The Clone Wars revealed that Ahsoka was just as influential in Anakin’s disillusionment with the Jedi Order as Palpatine’s manipulations. When Ahsoka was framed for the bombing of the Jedi temple on Coruscant and tried by the Jedi Council, Anakin fought tirelessly to prove her innocence, and although he succeeded, the experience created serious doubts in Ahsoka’s mind about continuing with the Jedi. Although Anakin didn’t want to accept Ahsoka’s decision to leave the Order, he could finally only respond, “I understand… more than you know.”
