5. Kanan Jarrus and Ezra Bridger

Just when we thought Obi-Wan Kenobi and Yoda were the only two Jedi to survive Order 66, Star Wars Rebels revealed a previously undiscovered survivor who managed to leave a significant impact on the galaxy in his own way. Caleb Dume grew up trying to hide his identity as a Jedi. Being only a child when his master Depa Billaba was murdered by clone troopers in front of him, Caleb was forced to find a unique path through life in a galaxy where the Jedi were seen as outlaws worthy of death. Changing his name to Kanan Jarrus, he found purpose as a part of a group led by Hera Syndulla, who were committed to providing aid to less fortunate people throughout the galaxy. He might have been content to never reveal himself as the Jedi he was until he came upon a tenacious young Force-sensitive boy named Ezra Bridger. Ezra was a survivor, doing whatever he had to so that he could survive each day in an Empire that had taken his parents from him.

Kanan and Ezra’s relationship was rocky at first and suffered multiple setbacks, including Ezra’s brief allegiance to Maul that resulted in the loss of Kanan’s eyesight, but over time, they grew close, and Ezra became more confident as a Jedi because of Kanan’s leadership. When Kanan died saving their group, Ezra was devastated and even discovered a way he could stop Kanan from dying, but Ezra’s respect for his master ran deep, and he chose to give his all to honoring Kanan’s memory and saving his friends and the planet of Lothal.
