22. Ezra Bridger and Maul

Ezra Bridger had Kanan Jarrus as a mentor, but it didn’t stop his curiosity about what the dark side might have to offer. And this is where Maul comes in. The two meet on Malachor, and Ezra is immediately suspicious of him. But Maul manipulates Ezra with a tale of being betrayed by the Sith. Against his better judgment, Ezra begins to learn about the ways of the Sith from Maul, and the two join a Sith and a Jedi holocron, which reveals the location of Obi-Wan Kenobi to Maul.

Because they’ve both lost so much, Ezra and Maul understand each other, and their connection makes them very powerful together. But their alliance is short-lived as Maul lures Ezra to Tatooine to draw Obi-Wan out of hiding. Ezra leaves Tatooine, and Maul finally dies in a short battle with Obi-Wan. Though Maul was manipulating Ezra the whole time, he also seemed to have an affinity for the boy, genuinely wanting Ezra to be his apprentice. In the end, Ezra rejected the dark side, but together, he and Maul represented a formidable force.
