Kevin Feige says he won’t be working on any of Star Wars’ Disney+ series

Ever since it was announced that Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige would be crossing Disney lines to produce a Star Wars movie, fans have wondered what that meant for the future of his Lucasfilm counterpart, Kathleen Kennedy.
Concerns began to arise about Kennedy as Lucasfilm’s head after the sequence of controversial sequel movies were released. And compared to the consistent success of the MCU, some began to wonder if Kevin Feige’s involvement with Lucasfilm would surpass the initial job of him producing just one movie.
Now, Feige himself is clarifying that he has no other plans to get involved with the Star Wars universe outside of the movie he’s producing. Feige was speaking to Entertainment Weekly during an interview about The Falcon and the Winter Soldier when the Marvel boss was asked if he’d be involved in any Disney+ series on the Star Wars side.
“No. That’s all Kathy Kennedy,” Feige said to EW. “I’m involved in as much as I stay up until midnight L.A. time to watch new episodes of The Mandalorian when they drop.”
The questions about Kennedy’s standing at Lucasfilm didn’t just reach Kevin Feige. Just earlier this month, new Disney CEO Bob Chapek was asked about Kennedy’s future at Lucasfilm — and to that, he responded: “We look forward to having Kathleen Kennedy running the Lucasfilm organization for many years to come.”
So, for now, it looks like Kennedy will not be eclipsed by Marvel head Kevin Feige or even The Mandalorian producers Jon Favreau or Dave Filoni. As some have noted, The Mandalorian was created under Kennedy’s watch, proving that she has at least one unanimously agreed upon project that fans say is a success. Plus, Lucasfilm has many more Star Wars series in development as well, that of which have been developed under her time as the Lucasfilm boss too.
Feige might be a good addition to the Star Wars team no matter how involved he is. But it seems like for the time being, Kennedy will be keeping her spot as the head of Lucasfilm.
