5. The Dead Don’t Die (2019)

If you’re in the mood for some horror and some laughs, you don’t want to miss out on a chance to watch The Dead Don’t Die while it’s available on HBO Max. Released in 2019, this film follows a small town’s police force as they combat a spontaneous zombie invasion.

It’s a simple premise, but it’s the ensemble cast that really makes this film shine. Star Wars fans are in for a treat, as it’s led by none other than Adam Driver, most known for playing Kylo Ren in The Force Awakens, The Last Jedi, and The Rise of Skywalker.

Driver is joined by icons like Bill Murray, Steve Buscemi, Tilda Swinton, Tom Waits, Danny Glover, Iggy Pop, and Selena Gomez for an easily digestible 103-minute ride where the true gem is getting to see all of these actors interact. The Dead Don’t Die had moderate success at the box office.

While it received a very mixed critical response, positive reviews tended to highlight the enjoyable dry humor between Murray and Driver, which was often highlighted by Swinton’s presence whenever she appeared. The Dead Don’t Die isn’t the greatest horror-comedy ever crafted, but it’s an enjoyable ride where Star Wars fans can watch Driver in an altogether different role than Kylo Ren.
