If you’ve been hanging with Disney+ this long for shows like The Mandalorian or The Bad Batch, they’ve got some not-so-exciting news in store for subscribers: the cost of a Disney+ subscription is about to go up. Of course, this isn’t unheard of in the streaming world. But with Disney+ being so new to the game compared to Netflix and Hulu, being just 16 months old almost feels a bit too early for the prices to start rising already.

But effective Friday, March 26, subscribers will see a slight increase in their bill. If you pay for the streaming service with the monthly subscription, your bill will rise to $7.99 (compared to the old $6.99 price tag).

For yearly subscriptions, the price will rise to $79.99 (up from $69.99). If you already have a yearly subscription locked in, don’t worry. You won’t see an additional charge on your bill. You’ll only have to pay the new price when it’s time to renew your subscription. And for those of you who aren’t locked into Disney+, purchasing a yearly subscription before Friday could help you to save money, at least for one year.

Save money with Disney bundles

If you already find yourself having to subscribe to a couple of subscription services (and don’t we all?), Disney is offering bundles with two of its other streaming services. But be aware these prices are going up as well. A Disney+, Hulu and ESPN+ bundle is going up to $13.99 from $12.99.

As Variety notes, Disney+ is still on the cheaper end of most streaming services — at least compared to Netflix and HBO Max. And in some way, the cost is justified with the vast amount of original content Disney+ is adding. Already, original series like The Falcon and the Winter Soldier have proven to be some of their biggest hits. And with Star Wars, there are so many more original series in store for the platform that we’ve yet to see. So even if there is a slight price increase, at least there will be enough new content to keep up with the price.
