Sebastian Stan has been getting a lot of buzz lately, as he’s currently starring in the popular Disney+ series The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. Recently, the new MCU show has quite surpassed The Mandalorian in terms of viewers for its premiere episode. But that’s not the only connection this actor has to the Star Wars universe.

As we’ve covered previously, Sebastian Stan has been a popular candidate to play one young Luke Skywalker. And for some time now, if fans weren’t talking about Sebastian Stan playing Bucky Barnes (aka the Winter Soldier), they were talking about him potentially playing Luke Skywalker.

Now, Stan is finally sharing his own thoughts about whether or not he’d like to play Luke Skywalker in the Star Wars universe. The actor sat down to speak with the anchors of Good Morning America, and he had this to say in response to the casting inquiries and rumors:

"Well, if Mark Hamill calls me personally to tell me that he feels inclined to share this role with me, then I’ll believe it. Until then, I won’t believe it."

So, it looks like Stan is laying to rest any rumors about him being cast as Luke Skywalker for now. And it would have to take Mark Hamill himself to give Stan his blessings to play the role. After all, Hamill has pretty much solidified himself as the Luke Skywalker actor. And as long as de-aging technology works, Hamill’s good to play the role for as long as he likes.

Around our social media, we’ve also noticed a good deal of Star Wars fans are still in favor of Mark Hamill keeping the role of Luke Skywalker. Because truly, at this rate, it’s hard to replace a legend.

That being said, it’s possible that one day, Hamill may want to retire. (We cringe at the thought!) And if it comes down to it, he may be willing to hand the mantle down to Sebastian Stan. The actor has already made a legacy for himself in the MCU, playing the character since 2011’s Captain America. So why not join some of the many MCU actors who have a Star Wars role as well?

It’s possible we could see Mark Hamill as Luke Skywalker again when The Mandalorian season 3 begins to air. And you can see Sebastian Stan in new episodes of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier on Disney+, which is currently streaming episode 2 this week.
