Disney Investors Day was a treasure trove of new information regarding what the company has in store for its streaming arm, Disney+. A grand total of 10 Star Wars shows are set to go in production over the next few years including an Obi-Wan Kenobi show.

Officially titled Obi-Wan Kenobi, the show will be set 10 years after the events of Episode III: Revenge of the Sith. Obi-Wan will have been in exile for a decade due to Order 66.

Ewan McGregor will be reprising his role as the titular character of the series, a move that’ll see him become a part of the TV leg of the Star Wars franchise. It’s a welcome move for fans who’ve been anxious to see more of Obi-Wan’s story unfold onscreen.

As exciting as this news is, however, an announcement isn’t the same thing as having something in the can ready to debut to the world. So will Star Wars fans be able to add the Obi-Wan Kenobi show to their Disney+ watch list in 2021? Here’s what we know about the series’ upcoming land on the platform.

When is the Obi-Wan Kenobi show coming to Disney+?

Obi-Wan Kenobi fans are probably going to be in for a long wait for his series to premiere on Disney+. Though, on March 29, Lucasfilm did officially confirm that production will be underway in April 2021. With that in mind, there’s no official release date yet. But this means the show is likely to come out early in 2022, or possibly late 2021 at the earliest.

When it comes to speculation, of course, can’t be helped. That’s the name of the game for fans especially in the wake of Hayden Christensen coming back to the Star Wars franchise to don the mantle of Darth Vader.

Seeing Anakin’s story continue in live-action along with an inevitable showdown once again between him and his mentor Obi-Wan is sure to be a highlight of the series.

As always, we’ll keep you posted on more Star Wars news, including the Obi-Wan Kenobi show, as it rolls in.
