There are a lot of exciting Star Wars movies, shows and books to look forward to in 2021, but no release has fans more excited than The Mandalorian season 3!

It’s no surprise that fans are anxiously counting down the days until season 3 begins on Disney Plus. From the moment the series first debuted in 2019, The Mandalorian has become one of the biggest original series for Disney Plus. It also doesn’t hurt that the show’s second season ended with such a big cliffhanger! (The Mandalorian season 2 spoilers ahead.)

Of course, the big jaw-dropping moment came with the show’s shocking cameo which was connected to Grogu (Baby Yoda) leaving Mando behind to go begin his formal Jedi training. Oh and let’s not forget that Bib Fortuna, Boba Fett and Fennec post-credits scene back at Jabba’s palace which has set the stage for The Book of Boba Fett.

Unfortunately, it seems we’re going to have to wait a bit for The Mandalorian season 3 to arrive.

The Mandalorian season 3 release date

Disney Plus recently revealed the complete list of shows and movies coming in April 2021 and, unfortunately, The Mandalorian season 3 was not among the titles set to debut in April.

While disappointing, it’s far from surprising when you consider Disney Plus typically drops new seasons of The Mandalorian in the final months of the year with season 1 having premiered Nov. 12, 2019, and season 1 on Oct. 30, 2020. And while Disney Plus has not yet announced a release plan for season 3, it seems highly likely The Mandalorian won’t return until sometime late this year at the earliest.

It’s also possible we might not see season 3 until early 2022, as it is entirely possible Disney Plus could end up needing to hold the next season until 2022 depending on how quickly they’re able to complete filming and production.

In the meantime, we can at least enjoy the first two seasons on repeat as we continue to wait for news on season 3!
