Another day, another moment in time when the live-action Jar Jar Binks won’t appear on screen again. And knowing today is April 1, this is no April Fool’s joke, as it was clarified by the man himself just days ago.

For some backstory, on March 29, Star Wars and Lucasfilm revealed the cast of the upcoming Obi-Wan Kenobi series. Of course, we know that Ewan McGregor is set to reprise his role as the titular character, and Hayden Christensen will be returning to play Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader. Heck, even the Uncle Owen and Aunt Beru actors will be back to play those characters. But what about beloved staple character Jar Jar Binks?

When the casting announcement went out, Binks actor Ahmed Best sent his congratulations to the cast in a tweet, writing: “Congrats my friends. Looking forward to seeing all these wonderful artists on screen.”

That’s when a fan responded to Best’s tweet, writing as if to see if the actor was downplaying or covering up a possible role in the show. To that, Best responded to the fan with an earnest answer.

Will Jar Jar Binks be in the Obi-Wan Kenobi series?

Judging by Ahmed Best’s tweet, it looks like Obi-Wan won’t be teamed up with the goofball Gungan once again. Though, Best’s answer could provide hope for the future for those who really, really want Jar Jar Binks to make a comeback. But thankfully, there are plentiful other Star Wars shows coming to Disney+ soon, though Obi-Wan Kenobi likely would have been the best fit-choice for him to make a comeback.

With shows like Rangers of the New RepublicAhsoka, or even Andor, it doesn’t seem like Jar Jar would fit in quite well during the events of any of those shows. But, we also didn’t assume someone like Luke Skywalker would show up in something like The Mandalorian, so just about anything is possible these days.

For people really wishing for some more Jar Jar Binks antics, you’ll find a healthy amount of Jar Jar in animated form in Star Wars: The Clone Wars. Or, if you’re just a fan of Ahmed Best, you’ll want to catch him hosting Star Wars: Jedi Temple Challenge over on YouTube.
