If the first six Star Wars movies are ever remade, who should star in them? We cast 50 actors in 50 of the biggest roles in the Star Wars universe.

If there is one thing studios seem to love, it’s finding a way to reboot iconic franchises often in remaking original titles as a way of doing so. Take for example, Disney’s recent dive into live-action remakes of its classic animated titles as a way to introduce the classics to new generations in an updated method — while still producing films fans of the original can enjoy.

It’s not inconceivable that Disney may eventually remake the original six Star Wars movies, and if it does, we want it to be prepared. That’s why we’ve compiled this handy list of actors who we’d like to see cast in a hypothetical remake.

Before we start, a couple of ground rules:

  1. We’re casting these roles as if the hypothetical remake is going to get made right now. We can’t be sure what kinds of qualified candidates will emerge in the future—we’re fans, not psychics.
  2. Even if a given actor is still able to play his or her old role, we’re casting someone new in the part. For example, even though James Earl Jones might still be able to pull off Darth Vader, he can’t be our pick. This hypothetical Star Wars saga is full of fresh blood.

And…begin!
