Dream casting the Star Wars saga: Karl Urban as Jango/Boba Fett

Karl Urban has been on the cusp of super-stardom a couple of times, such as when he played the titular role in 2011’s Dredd. There, his character expressed genuine emotion despite the fact that pretty much everything above his mouth was covered with a bulky visor. True, he mostly just expressed different degrees of anger, but it was still impressive. Urban is a consummate actor with the most emotive mouth in the business.

Urban also plays Bones in the new Star Trek movies and played Eomer in The Lord of the Rings. He’s always been near the spotlight but has rarely stood directly in it. Let’s keep that going by casting him as Jango Fett, a meaty supporting role, in Attack of the Clones.

Like Temuera Morrison, the actor who played Jango in Clones, Urban is from New Zealand, so I’m betting he has an accent he can break out. More importantly, Urban is a physical actor who’s up for all the running and shooting and leaping and flying the role requires. His experience with special effects (Star Trek) should come in handy, as well.

Finally, since Boba Fett is an exact clone of Jango Fett, Urban could play Boba in the original trilogy as well. Two roles for the price of one actor!
