Star Wars: Who are the members of the Bad Batch?
The premiere of Star Wars: The Bad Batch is just around the corner, debuting on May 4. The brand-new animated series from Lucasfilm and Disney picks up in the aftermath of the Clone Wars. The Republic is now the Galactic Empire, Anakin Skywalker is now Darth Vader, and the super-soldiers of the Bad Batch are no longer part of the Grand Army of the Republic. These five expertly skilled warriors are on the run, taking on daring mercenary missions to survive and doing what they think is right along the way.
But who are the Bad Batch? What’s their story?
The Bad Batch, more specifically known as Clone Force 99, are mutated and genetically enhanced clones. Because of their unique skills and abilities, they become a special forces squad and develop a reputation for getting any job done.
Here’s a breakdown of the team and what you should know about them.
Hunter
Hunter is the leader of the group. He has heightened senses and has the ability to feel electromagnetic signals. This allows him to be more precise on the field, especially when maps and other technology fails them. And although he uses a wide range of blasters, Hunter’s weapon of choice is a vibro-knife. He’s the kind of guy who fights up close and personal, cutting opponents down with ease.
Tech
Tech is known as the brains of the group. His mind operates faster and smarter than the average person, and he’s an expert when it comes to technology. He even has a computer terminal attached to his arm whenever he needs to calculate or do anything that could get the team out of a bind, like translating a foreign language or recording video for analysis.
Wrecker
Tech has the brains, but Wrecker has the muscle. His physicality makes him the largest and strongest clone in the army. He’s so strong, he’s able to lift a damaged gunship off the ground without breaking a sweat. He also tends to be the loud and confrontational member of the group, but don’t put him anywhere that involves heights. He’s afraid of those.
Crosshair
Crosshair has the eyes of a hawk, giving him excellent aim, especially when he sets himself up high and takes down opponents with his favorite rifle from afar. He has a bit of an attitude and cold exterior, but his sharp shooting skills make him an essential member of the group.
Echo
Echo has a much longer and tragic history. After training hard and demonstrating courage, he’s promoted to ARC trooper. He later falls in battle and supposedly dies, but Separatist forces take him as a prisoner. His mind and body are altered and used as a weapon against the Republic, but Captain Rex and Clone Force 99 rescue him. He eventually joins the Bad Batch and becomes the fifth member.
