Just in time for Star Wars Day (May 4) and the premiere of The Bad Batch on Disney+, the Star Wars Black Series is adding a new figurine of pre-Bad Batch ARC Trooper Echo to the collection. Echo, who eventually joins the crew of Clone Force 99, joins figurines of Anakin Skywalker, Obi-Wan Kenobi and Clone Pilot Hawk in a new line celebrating the original Clone Wars series and the 50th anniversary of Lucasfilm.
The design of Echo’s figurine won’t be like that of The Bad Batch’s Clone Force 99, as it portrays the ARC trooper before he was captured and experimented on by the Techno Union during the Clone Wars. For this line, Echo sports his “regs” ARC trooper armor complete with a chest handprint created by Captain Rex and the blue markings signaling him as a member of the 501st.
The helmet for the Clone Pilot Hawk figurine isn’t removable, but it features a unique design with the character’s signature red wing markings on the upper temples. For the Obi-Wan and Anakin figures, the new line more closely aligns with their individual looks and armor during the Clone Wars. Anakin’s figure more closely matches his appearance in the early episodes of The Clone Wars in the “sweet spot” between Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith. The Obi-Wan figure has new armor and “Photo Real deco.”
Associate product designer Eric Franer explained to StarWars.com:
"The previous Clone Commander Obi-Wan figure was inspired by the Genndy Tartakovsky’s Clone Wars [2D micro series]. It was a great figure, but we felt like it was important to get this clone armor version from The Clone Wars into the line. And since we were planning on including an Anakin figure, it was a great pairing to have the two together as they appeared in The Clone Wars."
Though Franer couldn’t elaborate on more Black Series figurines coming in the Lucasfilm 50th line, he did the team is excited for fans to see what’s coming next.
