DC: Daisy Ridley suits up as Batgirl in amazing new image

Ever since Daisy Ridley first broke onto the Hollywood scene in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, fans have been clamoring to see more from her. When it comes to typecasting in future films, Ridley has stated that she probably won’t reprise her role as Rey in any upcoming Star Wars movies.

Despite this, when it comes to action films, there is one role that fans have been wanting Ridley to take up: Batgirl. It was reported last month that DC’s Batgirl film is still in development, however, no actress has been officially tied to the project.

Many fans of Ridley’s work have been wanting her to don the mantle of the caped crusader, especially given her previous work in large blockbuster movies. The Star Wars franchise is not Ridley’s only brush with action films, either. She can currently be seen starring alongside Tom Holland in the dystopian thriller Chaos Walking, which is in theaters and available on streaming right now.

This push to get Ridley to portray Batgirl is not all fan-casting, either. Back in 2019, it was reported that she was Warner Bro.’s top choice for the part, although whether or not this was true hasn’t been corroborated.

Despite the yearning from fans for the part, Daisy Ridley hasn’t been cast in anything for now, and her role remains purely hypothetical. However, we may have an idea of what Ridley could look like as Gotham’s defender, thanks to fan art illustrator @britedit, which you can see below.

What Daisy Ridley could look like as Batgirl

The fan art illustration of Ridley as Batgirl has racked up nearly 1000 likes on Instagram as of this publishing. It is a unique take on what the actress could look like donned in the iconic costume. While Ridley is obviously no stranger to action movies, a superhero franchise, especially one as large as Batgirl, would be something completely new for the 29-year-old.

No matter what happens, hopefully, we will be able to see a lot more of Daisy Ridley in the coming years. She is an extremely talented actress, and fans can likely look forward to her body of work expanding. Whether or not this means she will be responding to any Bat-Signals remains to be seen.
