9. Brie Larson as Princess Leia Organa

When talking about the way Carrie Fisher embodied the role of Leia Organa, George Lucas said Fisher was “feisty, wise and full of hope in a role that was more difficult than most people might think.” While Fisher went on to a successful career as an actor of film and television, writer, and comedian, none of her other performances had as lasting an impact as her portrayal of Princess Leia.

Trying to take on the role of Princess Leia would be a challenge for any actor today, but none seem more perfectly suited for all the different layers required than Brie Larson. Today, Larson is widely recognized for portraying Captain Marvel in the movie of the same name and various Marvel Cinematic Universe projects.

However, her resume is far more significant, including cult favorite supporting roles in Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, 21 Jump Street, Trainwreck, and Kong: Skull Island. Larson even proved herself long-term on television in Diablo Cody’s comedy-drama series United States of Tara.

Larson also won the Academy Award for Best Actress after her powerful performance as a kidnapping victim in Room, and it’s this fantastic body of work that proves how well she’d succeed if given the chance to take on the role of Princess Leia Organa in a recasting of Star Wars.
