Star Wars: Sebastian Stan transforms into Luke Skywalker in stunning image

When it comes to Star Wars characters, there are few as iconic as Luke Skywalker. From the very beginning, Luke has played a key role in the franchise as one of its greatest leaders which has helped him to be regarded as one of the greatest movie characters of all time.

Dating back to the character’s debut back in 1977’s Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope, the role of Luke Skywalker has been played to perfection by Mark Hamill. In the years since, Hamill has reprised the role not only in future live-action projects including The Mandalorian but also for animated and even gaming titles.

Because of this, it’s nearly impossible to imagine any other actor take on the role; however, it seems inevitable the day will come in which Disney aims to launch a new Star Wars franchise or revisit Luke’s younger years through a movie or even a Disney+ original series. After all, the character has appeared in several novels which would provide ample source materials to draw upon for inspiration.

While special effects were able to help Disney bring Hamill back into the fold in The Mandalorian, should the studio decide to launch a new film or movie franchise revolving around a young Luke a recast seems like the only valid option.

Should that day come, there is one actor fans have long wanted to see step into the role: The Falcon and the Winter Soldier‘s Sebastian Stan.

What Sebastian Stan could look like as Luke Skywalker in Star Wars

Fans are eager for Sebastian Stan to join the Star Wars franchise as the new Luke Skywalker and it’s understandable when seeing him suit up as the character.

Inspired by the idea of Disney bringing Luke Skywalker back into the fold for a future project either on the big screen or via Disney+, digital artist ApexForm transforms Sebastian Stan into the iconic Jedi.

Using the character’s look and style from his younger days, the artist envisions what Sebastian Stan could look like in the role in a piece of concept art that is sure to leave fans speechless!

Will Sebastian Stan join the Star Wars franchise as Luke Skywalker?

Currently, Disney has not revealed any plans to bring Luke Skywalker back into the fold via either an upcoming live-action movie or Disney+ original series. Additionally, the studio has not admitted to having any conversations with Sebastian Stan about taking on the role of Luke Skywalker.

While there are no active plans to bring Sebastian Stan into the Star Wars Universe, the fan speculation has made its way back to Stan who addressed the rumor telling Good Morning America in March 2021:

"“If Mark Hamill calls me personally to tell me that he feels inclined to share this role with me, then I’ll believe it. Until then, I won’t believe it.”"

Funny enough, Hamill once told a fan on Twitter that Sebastian “doesn’t need my stamp of approval! He’s a wonderful actor & is never less than great in everything he does.” In other words, it seems Hamill is on board with the idea, now we just need to wait for Disney to finally get on board too!
