There are new rumors out there circulating that another Marvel Cinematic Universe star could be joining the Star Wars universe — one who’s quite familiar with space adventures herself when it comes to her origin story. That’s right, we’re talking about Captain Marvel actress Brie Larson.

As the rumors go, Larson is reportedly in talks to join the Star Wars Universe — this has been reported by both Inside the Magic as well as We Got This Covered, the latter of which this rumor has come from.

Already, the rumor even seems to say that they’ve already nailed down a role for Larson: Mara Jade. The character is notoriously known in the old Legends series as being the wife of Luke Skywalker, and she has a storied history that could potentially fit into the Disney canon if they tried. (Though we also have a case for why that could not be.)

Will Brie Larson play Mara Jade in Star Wars?

As of right now, though, this a rumor to be heavily taken with a grain of salt. The origin of the scoop, We Got This Covered, has stated that the intel has come from an anonymous source of theirs, though they say it’s the same source that confirmed Ahsoka would be in The Mandalorian. So, again, take it with a grain of salt and make of it what you will.

On top of that, of course, Disney and Lucasfilm have not stated that Brie Larson has been cast, nor that they are looking for Mara Jade to be cast at this time. But since Disney and Lucasfilm are not always quick to announce casting decisions, we’ll have to keep our eyes toward publications like Deadline, Variety or The Hollywood Reporter to watch for any casting news regarding this.

Still, it would be fascinating if Larson (a Star Wars fan herself) would be cast. It’s pretty typical now for actors to have roles in both the MCU and Star Wars. And on her YouTube channel, Larson revealed that she did in fact audition for a role in Star Wars once. So, maybe if the stars do align, we’ll get Brie Larson and/or Mara Jade in the Disney canon. But for now, this will have to remain a rumor.
