Star Wars characters who should get a spin-off series: Mara Jade

Another character from Star Wars Legends who could be incorporated back into the fold, Mara Jade is a fan-favorite from Legends lore who could easily be incorporated back into canon.

In Legends, Mara Jade was a “special agent” for the Emperor, capable of utilizing the Dark Side of the Force. Following the fall of the Empire after the battle of Endor, she swears vengeance on Luke Skywalker, blaming him for Palpatine’s Death.

However, as time went on, Luke managed to break the Emperor’s influence on her and convert her to the Light Side of the Force, after which the two became romantically involved. Mara and Luke would go on to marry, with Jade getting pregnant and delivering Luke’s firstborn son, Ben Skywalker.

Jade would spend the next few years raising Ben before being killed by Jacen Solo, the son of Han and Leia in Legends, following his turn to the Dark Side.

Mara certainly has an interesting backstory, and while her exact story in Legends can’t necessarily be incorporated into the new canon, certain elements of her history can.

With a young CGI Luke Skywalker in The Mandalorian timeline, she could easily be introduced as an inquisitor of sorts, hunting down Luke in the years following the fall of the empire and eventually turning to the light and becoming his love interest.

Additionally, if they go the route of a young Ben Solo series, they could also incorporate her death at the hands of Han and Leia’s son, adding onto Luke’s failure and depression before his self-exile after Ben destroys his Jedi Temple.

No matter how Mara Jade could be incorporated into the new canon, her inclusion would surely be a welcome addition, especially to fans of the Star Wars Expanded Universe.
