Star Wars characters who should get a spin-off series: Dash Rendar

With Han Solo frozen in Carbonite between the events of The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi, the character of Dash Rendar was created to take his place as the smuggler/hotshot pilot working alongside Luke Skywalker and the Rebellion, flying his famous ship called the Outrider.

Rendar was one of the main protagonists of the Shadows of the Empire book and game series, set between the events of Episodes V and VI. He was a former Imperial Pilot who left the Empire and became a freelance mercenary, hired by the Rebellion to help smuggle supplies to their bases.

He was on Hoth during the Empire’s attack on the base, and fought alongside the Rebellion before making his own escape from the planet. Following this, he was hired again by Princess Leia to protect Luke Skywalker and help steal information from the Empire regarding their plans to create a second Death Star.

Although he is now a Star Wars Legends character and out of the current Canon, Rendar could easily be reincorporated into the current Star Wars canon in future projects, and could even receive his own series, with plenty of established material to base a story off of.

Rendar is already an established and fan-favorite character from Star Wars Legends, and his stories and life as a mercenary would fit in great during The Mandalorian time period. Given his popularity, he could be an option to receive his own series down the line.
