Star Wars characters who should get a spin-off series: Grand Admiral Thrawn

Given that he appears to be slated as the main antagonist of the Ahsoka series and possibly in other live-action Star Wars shows in the future, a live-action series centered around Grand Admiral Thrawn and his rise to power in the empire could make for some interesting content.

Originally introduced in the Shadows of the Empire book series which is now non-canon, Thrawn was reintroduced into the franchise in Star Wars Rebels and was mentioned in season 2 of The Mandalorian, teasing that he will crossover into live-action in the future.

Thrawn was last seen in the Rebels series finale, drifting off into the unknown regions of the galaxy along with Ezra Bridger, leaving their fate unknown. However, Ahsoka revealed in her appearance in The Mandalorian that she was searching for him, signaling his return to the franchise.

Grand Admiral Thrawn was a very important character in Star Wars Legends, and is one with a very interesting backstory, rising up to the third-ranking member of the Empire behind the Emperor and Darth Vader.

However, many new fans may be unfamiliar with Thrawn outside of his appearances in Rebels, and a series centered around the Grand Admiral in his younger years could be a great way to develop his character.

Following a young Thrawn’s journey rising up through the ranks of the Empire throughout the war with the rebellion could make for a great mini-series, and could set him up to take over as the galaxy’s next “big bad” in future projects.
