Star Wars characters who should get a spin-off series: Cal Kestis

Another character from Star Wars video games, Cal Kestis certainly has the potential to cross over into live-action form, and based on the similar appearance the character shares with his voice actor, the door is clearly open for that to happen.

Unlike Kyle Katarn, Cal’s adventures are in the official Star Wars canon, meaning they are all set in the current universe Lucasfilm is creating with the new Disney Plus shows and movies.

Cal Kestis’ backstory is a very interesting one, as he was a former padawan who went into hiding following Order 66, but several years later after his cover was blown and he began being hunted by the empire, he reconnected with the Force and helped form a small team to fight them, with him even coming face to face with Darth Vader.

The Jedi: Fallen Order game was an incredible success and was well received by fans, with Cal being its main protagonist. The game was one of the best-selling games of 2019 and by March of 2020, it had sold over 10 million copies.

In the conclusion of the game’s main story, Cal’s journey ended with him and his team setting out to find and protect Force-sensitive children, with them hopefully set to become the next generation of Jedi. While a second Jedi: Fallen Order game is in development, a live-action series could be put out to potentially continue Cal’s story as well.

As stated, Cal’s character model in the game shares a striking resemblance to his voice actor, Cameron Monaghan, who is a rising actor, most famous for playing the Joker in the Gotham television series.

The similar appearance between the two was clearly intentional, and given the success and popularity of the first game plus Monaghan’s talent as an actor, I wouldn’t rule out seeing Cal Kestis receive his own series down the line.
