2. Thor

When it comes to pure power, few others approach Thor’s level. Even in his current dilapidated state, the god of Thunder is a ruthless warrior that can overcome anyone standing in his path. He relies on a weapon as crucial as a lightsaber and takes supernatural abilities like the Force to unrivaled heights. It is, thus, no question that he became a pivotal member of the Avengers and king of his homeworld, Asgard.

That was not always the case, however. In his early days, Thor depended on those powers for combat alone, seeing little more to life than thriving on the battlefield. With Asgard coming under constant threat, that attitude was sure to change in no time. His father, Odin, sent Thor to Earth while removing all his powers which, combined with a newfound love interest in Jane Foster, humanized Thor in new ways. That moment inspired him to grow into the ruler his father expected him to be, leaving remnants of his former self behind.

What ensues is Thor’s journey shifting from focusing on himself to defeating the larger threat at hand in Thanos, with his initial failure fueling his desire to ultimately emerge victoriously. Thor faced countless challenges in his life, whether his parents being killed or the people of Asgard, and as such, recognizes the toll that death can take. These challenges inspire his quest to become the king that his people need, making it even more impressive when he realizes that is not his destiny.

Thor knows that he still has work to be done, yet continues to fight against Thanos and any other threat in hopes of living up to what his father hoped he could be. His continually increasing abilities make that possible, but so too does an ongoing quest for self-discovery. Thor does come with his troubles, but those attributes alone would make him a laudable Jedi master.
