20. Valkyrie
Similar to Okoye’s relentless service to Wakanda, the same could be said of Valkyrie’s to Asgard. Much younger and more rebellious than a traditional Jedi master, upon her introduction in the MCU, Valkyrie certainly gives us some questionable morals, living as a bounty hunter and selling Thor to the Grandmaster. However, that was not the person Valkyrie strived to be. She initially served as one of Asgard’s most elite warriors, but upon being defeated by Hela, embarked on a life of exile that brought her down a dangerous path.
However, once she learns of the threat her nation faces, she suddenly changes her attitude. Instead, she rejoins the fight against Hela and makes the humble move of putting her own life of espionage behind in the face of helping the Asgardian community when it needed it most.
Then, after losing its home and countless lives during Ragnarok, Thor entrusted Valkyrie with the responsibility of leading Asgard into the future. If he is granting her his trust, it must be with good reason.
Valkyrie never lost her love of Asgard, but simply needed it to be awoken. Once it was, she recalled her days as a loyal servant and reclaimed her role as a caring leader. And, now, she does not just serve as the ruler of Asgard but contributed to the fight against Thanos with a larger goal of protecting the world as a whole. Valkyrie’s responsibility has grown to be much bigger than just herself, and that is a task fit for a Jedi master.
