Hayden Christensen played the central character of the prequels, Anakin Skywalker, in two Star Wars movies, Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith. The Canadian-born actor was plucked from relative obscurity by George Lucas to star in the films. Today, his portrayal of the prequels’ protagonist has garnered him notoriety around the world.
The actor had his first role in 1995’s In The Mouth of Madness, and was also nominated for a Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actor for his work in 2001’s Life as a House. His big breakthrough, however, would come when he secured the role as Anakin Skywalker, one of the most coveted parts in Hollywood at the time. Christensen was just one of nearly 1500 actors who auditioned for the role.
Sadly, his portrayal of the character in Attack of the Clones was not all that well-received. However, the reaction to his performance in Revenge of the Sith was looked on much more favorably. Fans appreciated Christensen’s portrayal of Anakin Skywalker’s slow descent into the Dark Side, ending with him being reborn as Darth Vader. For his work, Christensen won an MTV Movie Award for Best Villain, and was also nominated for a Saturn Award for Best Actor.
Unfortunately, Christensen has not had a ton of other notable parts, and seemingly took a step back for a few years after his stint in Star Wars. His most widely-seen role outside of a galaxy far, far away is in the 2008 sci-fi thriller Jumper, where he played the main protagonist.
Even though he hasn’t had a ton of roles beyond Star Wars, Hayden Christensen still cashed a significant paycheck for his work as Anakin, and has likely garnered a merchandising percentage from the films as well. But how much is he really worth?
How much is Hayden Christensen worth?
Hayden Christensen has a net worth of approximately $12 million, per CelebrityNetWorth.com. As stated, the majority of this wealth probably came from the Star Wars films. However, Christensen also has numerous other ventures that have contributed to this high net worth.
Along with his brother Tove, Christensen created a production company called Glacier Films in 2013 to help produce small-budget movies. Additionally, he has signed endorsement and modeling deals with a number of luxury brands like Louis Vuitton and Lacoste, serving as a brand ambassador for the latter.
It also appears that his time in Star Wars is not over after all, as it was announced in March that Christensen would be returning to portray Darth Vader for the upcoming Disney+ series Obi-Wan Kenobi. The details of his contract is obviously not public, but it can be assumed that Lucasfilm will be giving him a pretty penny to don the Sith Lord’s iconic mask once again. This being said, Christensen can probably look forward to his net worth increasing in the coming years.
