Emilia Clarke shares her thoughts on if she’d return to Star Wars

In a recent piece for Digital Spy, English actress Emilia Clarke was asked about the possibility of her making a return to the galaxy far, far away.
Clarke is perhaps best known for playing Daenerys Targaryen on the hit series Game of Thrones. In Star Wars she played the Corellian thief Qi’ra for the 2018 film Solo: A Star Wars Story. Since then, the character has appeared in the animated series Forces of Destiny and in some recent editions of the Marvel Star Wars comic line.
However Solo remains Clarke’s sole appearance in the franchise. When asked on the Happy Sad Confused podcast whether she would make a return the actress said: “I have heard nothing. Absolutely nothing,” seeming to confirm that there are no immediate plans for the character in a live-action capacity.
Clarke went on to say that she greatly enjoyed her time on the set of the film and that she: “loved Qi’ra. Loved her, really, really did. I loved Han, I loved the story, I loved the people, I loved the experience,” indicating that she would be eager to make a return as the character.
Will Qi’ra be returning to Star Wars?
A possible re-entry point for the Qi’ra in a live-action role could be in the upcoming Lando series, which was announced in December last year and will likely stream on Disney+. Although a more creative name for the show would be The Calrissian Chronicles, maybe?
The end of Solo left Qi’ra as the new public leader of the criminal syndicate Crimson Dawn, with the rogue Sith warrior Darth (formerly) Maul as her shadowy partner. A key player in the criminal underworld would make a fitting partner for Lando Calrissian.
This, however, all remains speculation. With almost a dozen different projects announced for the future of the Star Wars franchise, it is unlikely we will hear casting announcements for the show any time soon. Even Donald Glover, who is presumably the star of the show, has not been officially confirmed to be returning to the role.
