The final season of Star Wars: The Clone Wars was released to widespread critical acclaim, and now the animated series will look to pick up some new accolades. It was announced this week that the seventh season of The Clone Wars has received three nominations at the upcoming Daytime Emmy Awards.

The show will look to take home the trophies for Outstanding Writing Team for a Daytime Animated Program, Outstanding Music Direction and Composition for a Preschool, Children’s or Animated Program, and Outstanding Sound Mixing and Sound Editing for a Daytime Animated Program.

This is not The Clone Wars’ first brush with an awards show. The program has previously been nominated for Daytime Emmys in 2013, 2014, and 2015, winning the first two years. Additionally, The Clone Wars has been nominated for numerous Annie Awards, IGN Awards, and Golden Reel Awards.

The show, created in 2008, was the brainchild of George Lucas, who was trying to bridge the gap between Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith. While the program picked up a large fan following, the show was placed on hiatus after the sixth season in 2014, and it seemed as though the end of the series was simply lost to the ages.

However, fans rejoiced when it was announced at the 2018 San Diego Comic-Con that the series would be revived for a seventh and final season. This would allow the showrunners to wrap up a number of loose ends, in particular the story arc of fan-favorite Ahsoka Tano.

When the season premiered in February 2020, it was acclaimed by both critics and fans alike. The season currently holds a 94 percent audience score on Rotten Tomatoes and joins the previous two seasons with a 100 percent critic score.

Even though the show has been nominated for many Emmys before, it remains to be seen whether or not The Clone Wars will capture the win. Find out what happens when the winners of the 48th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards are revealed on July 17.
