Will Bo-Katan Kryze be in The Mandalorian season 3?
By Mia Johnson
We know in The Mandalorian that Mando and Grogu came across quite the handful of new friends, especially in season 2, including a group of Mandalorians who Din Djarin never met before.
The leader of that group of Mandalorians was none other than Bo-Katan Kryze, who fans of the animated series Star Wars: The Clone Wars have met before. But in this series, much time has passed since then, and now Bo-Katan is on a search for Moff Gideon and his Darksaber. Once she crossed paths with Din Djarin, she was able to use him to take down an Imperial ship and get closer to Gideon. And in exchange for his help, she tipped Mando off on how to find Ahsoka Tano.
Eventually, Din recruited the help of the Mandalorians once again, asking Bo-Katan, Koska Reeves and Axe Woves to help him free Grogu from Moff Gideon’s clutches. That led to Mando’s eventual showdown with Moff Gideon, winning him the Darksaber and (unbeknownst to him) the throne of Mandalore. Since the Darksaber could only be won by combat, that left Bo-Katan in a tough spot because it was she who wanted to defeat Moff Gideon for the Darksaber. And now Din Djarin and the rules of Mandalore stand in her way. So, will we be seeing more of Bo-Katan in season 3?
Bo-Katan: The Mandalorian season 3
So far, there’s been no casting announcements for The Mandalorian season 3. But it should be a given that actress Katee Sackhoff will return to play the character Bo-Katan Kryze.
For one, the storyline with Bo-Katan feels largely incomplete given everything that happened last season. We’re left with the cliffhanger about Din Djarin being the rightful owner of the Darksaber. And Bo-Katan talked up wanting to reclaim Mandalore so much that we don’t think she’ll let Din have the Darksaber that easily. (And we know this isn’t something he really wants in the first place.) We feel that Din will certainly want to help Bo-Katan reclaim Mandalore, and that may be a future plot point. But first, the two have to resolve the transfer of ownership problem with the Darksaber first.
Additionally, fans think that Katee Sackhoff has teased that she’ll be filming The Mandalorian quite soon. On Instagram just recently, Sackhoff shared that she would be needing a COVID test so that she could head back to work, playfully teasing “What could it be on?” to add to the mystery. With the way Sackhoff was keeping tight-lipped about the project, it very well could mean that she’s gearing up to return to The Mandalorian set.
Still, no matter what Sackhoff is preparing to film now, there’s no doubt that we should be seeing Bo-Katan in The Mandalorian season 3. And there will likely be more information released by Lucasfilm officially as we move closer to 2022.
