Disney reveals new poster for the Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser hotel
By Mia Johnson
After much mystery, there’s finally some new information out about the Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser, the interactive Star Wars hotel at Walt Disney World in Florida.
Today, the Disney Parks Blog released a poster for the Galactic Starcruiser, and the blog itself broke down some of the important elements featured on the poster. First, it’s important to note this interactive vacation event will last two days. So while many have said this is just a Star Wars hotel, the experience as a whole may be more like a cruise — just one that’s in the middle of Disney World and not in the sea.
It sounds like there will be plenty to do outside of just staying in the hotel each night. For example, when it comes to dining, there will be a new restaurant called the Crown of Corellia Dining Room — a supper club-like atmosphere that is promising some “otherworldly” food and drinks. Based on the food served at Galaxy’s Edge, we’ll likely be seeing more new Star Wars-themed dishes like the ones at Ronto Roasters and Docking Bay 7.
For entertainment, there will be lightsaber training offered at the hotel. It’s possible, unlike Disney’s Jedi Training Academy, that it will be available for guests of all ages. And if so, that will be awesome for all the kids and kids at heart.
Additionally, there will be some more interactive elements as well, as the blog says you’ll be able to choose your affiliation throughout your stay in the hotel. You can choose to help with the First Order, follow the ways of the Jedi, or even be part of the galaxy’s upper class.
When does the Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser open?
There’s no word on an opening date for the Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser just yet. But the Disney Parks Blog does mention that the resort will open sometime in 2022.
Construction has been moving on steadily for the build. And Disney Parks has already added it to the official map for Walt Disney World. The Galactic Starcruiser is just across the parking lot from Disney’s Hollywood Studios, which is also just to the south of Galaxy’s Edge.
Somehow, Star Wars will find a way to keep guests immersed in the storytelling of the hotel while also allowing them to travel to Batuu (Galaxy’s Edge). So it will be interesting to see how they pull this off. The blog also mentioned that more details will be coming, as the Imagineers are set to discuss the project soon. So it’s possible we may get an opening date for the hotel and more details when that happens.
