In 1977, George Lucas took the world by storm with his feature film Star Wars (A New Hope). By 1980, Star Wars was back with the latest entry, The Empire Strikes Back — a smash hit that was possibly even more revered than its predecessor. And in 1983, Lucasfilm returned for one “last” installment, Episode VI: Return of the Jedi, and it was… well, it wrapped up the original trilogy, that’s for sure.
So, what is Return of the Jedi about? Well, the fight for control over the galaxy is heating up. Darth Sidious wants the Empire to keep its control over the galaxy while the Rebels want to restore the Republic. So, the Empire gets to work on a second Death Star while the Rebels come face to face once again with putting an end to the Empire’s reign of terror.
Luke, having just learned that his father is Darth Vader, truly steps into the Jedi that he was meant to be. Oh, and Ewoks make their precious/terrifying debut as the unsung heroes of the Rebel Alliance.
Want to make this trilogy-ending story your next watch? Here’s where you can stream the movie online.
Where to stream Return of the Jedi
Star Wars: Episode VI — Return of the Jedi can be streamed online if you have a subscription to Disney+. There, you can watch every Star Wars movie from Episodes I-IX and even Rogue One and Solo: A Star Wars Story. You’ll also find all the animated Star Wars series on Disney+, such as The Clone Wars and The Bad Batch. So Disney+ is your number 1 destination for all things Star Wars when it comes to streaming.
Unfortunately, Return of the Jedi is not on Netflix. And it’s also not available on Hulu with a regular subscription either.
Another option for watching this movie online is to rent it from a rental streaming service. Amazon Prime Video is one destination for the movie, which currently has it available to rent for $3.99. Other platforms, such as Vudu, have it at the same or a similar price.
