With this week’s episode of Star Wars: The Bad Batch, we’re in the final episodes of the season and getting closer to unraveling the mystery of Omega, the Clones, and the aftermath of the world after Order 66.
Last week’s episode saw Clone Force 99 get mixed up with the Pyke Syndicate after an attempt to make things right with Cid, forcing them to leave Omega with the gangsters while they retrieved a stolen spice shipment.
After the multi-episode separatist arc with Hera Syndulla, “Infested” felt like a bit of a return to The Bad Batch‘s episodic format. While the Pykes are a familiar threat to fans of The Clone Wars, the story in last week’s episode didn’t feel particularly connected to the larger post-Order 66 world the show is exploring.
With so few episodes left, where exactly is The Bad Batch headed? When we last saw Crosshair, he had received permission to hunt down his brothers for betraying the Empire, so an epic showdown between Crosshair and the Bad Batch is almost guaranteed for the finale.
Additionally, just as Omega pushed the Bad Batch into action in this week’s episode, the themes of the episodes we’ve seen so far reinforce the troopers’ need to choose a side in the new world they live in — whether to fight for the Empire, Rebellion, or themselves.
