Rosario Dawson lightsaber battles ‘The Mandalorian’ in hilarious Instagram video
By Mia Johnson
Here’s something you (probably) won’t see in The Mandalorian. Ahsoka Tano battling it out in an epic lightsaber duel against the Mandalorian himself. But thanks to a hilarious video from live-action Ahsoka actress Rosario Dawson, we can get a little taste of what that would look like.
No, this isn’t a deleted scene that Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni dropped from the final cut of The Mandalorian season 2. Dawson had a bit of downtime on the set of her latest project, DMZ, and shared a video of herself and a friend in a tiny-lightsaber battle (H/T to The Direct).
In the Instagram video, Dawson donned a floppy yet adorable Ahsoka Tano hat while her friend put on a Mandalorian helmet (and wielded a red lightsaber) to battle against one another. Effects were also added into the video to make it as real as possible.
As the battle ended, Dawson asked, “Where’s Grand Admiral Thrawn?” — referencing her Mandalorian season 2 line before breaking out into laughter at their shenanigans.
Rosario Dawson in The Mandalorian
While this is a nice little tie-over for us Star Wars fans until the next season of The Mandalorian arrives, we aren’t sure if Rosario Dawson’s Ahsoka Tano will be a part of it or not.
The main reason for that is because Dawson is getting her own spinoff series, Ahsoka, coming soon. So as of now, there’s no telling if she will have one more appearance in The Mandalorian before showing up in her series or if we will just have to wait until Ahsoka premieres to see her again.
Seeing as we last saw Ahsoka at the end of 2020 and the Ahsoka series probably won’t come out until 2023 (seeing as 2022 already seems quite booked as far as Star Wars TV is looking), we’d love to see her appear in season 3 of The Mandalorian. That way, we could have a little more context about the Ahsoka series before she’s off on her own adventure.
But either way, we’re bound to see her wield her lightsabers again — it just won’t be in a battle against the Mandalorian and his hilarious non-canon red lightsaber like in the video. (But wouldn’t that be a story to tell?)
