Star Wars: Tales from the Galaxy’s Edge — Last Call is ILMxLAB’s latest VR gaming experience, though certainly not the first.
Today, StarWars.com promoted the game’s first teaser trailer and confirmed several new characters will appear in the game, both depicted in the teaser below.
In-game, players will take on the role of a galactic treasure hunter embarking on dangerous and exciting missions on behalf of Dok-Ondar across the Star Wars universe.
Last Call’s director Jose Perez III said the game has “strong Indiana Jones meets Star Wars vibes,” which makes it sound like the perfect addition to the growing collection of games spanning across various consoles in recent years. Nothing could possibly beat the chaotic antics of Doctor Aphra, the galaxy’s resident rogue archeologist. But this might come pretty close.
While an official release date for the game has yet to be announced, ILMxLAB has confirmed it will be available exclusively on Oculus Quest platforms.
Star Wars gamers haven’t gotten a wide range of VR experiences set in the Star Wars universe yet, but the scope seems to be expanding more and more. ILMxLab also produced Vader Immortal, a VR game for the Oculus Quest that allowed players to test their lightsaber skills in virtual reality — all while being watched closely by Darth Vader. Totally not terrifying at all. Nope.
If you’re still looking to invest in a VR system, the Oculus Quest 2 at its minimum storage capacity and without add-ons will cost about $300 USD.
Star Wars: Tales From Galaxy’s Edge — Last Call will arrive this fall.
