Before he became a household name with his appearances in The Mandalorian, Narcos, and Game of Thrones, Pedro Pascal had a moment in the superhero spotlight. In the early 2010s, Pascal had been cast in the failed TV pilot for a Wonder Woman series. Yes, that means he’s been linked to the Amazonian princess twice, his second time in Wonder Woman 1984.

Some may remember that The WB was trying to bring DC superheroes to the small screen before the Greg Berlanti universe kicked into gear. One of those TV shows was Wonder Woman, starring Adrienne Palicki as Diana Prince, created by Ally McBeal’s David E. Kelly.

Personally, I remember hearing about the news because they had Wonder Woman wearing pants, and it was causing a lot of conversation. Some good, some negative. Either way, the pilot never aired, and we’ll never know how the show was supposed to play out.

The show had Diana Prince as a business executive of Themyscira Industries that surrounded her brand as Wonder Woman. Yes, I know that’s strange. It’s a fairly strange pilot. She was using the business to not only control the quality of Wonder Woman dolls but also use it as a crime-fighting home base. It was very 2000s, let’s just say that.

Pedro Pascal has been in two Wonder Woman franchises

So what was Pedro Pascal’s role in all of this? He had been cast as Ed Indelicato, a liaison between the superheroine and the police department. Described as loyal to the princess, he helped Diana with tracking down bad guys. Indelicato wasn’t made up purely for the show; he’s actually in the comics. Created by George Perez, he was a Boston police inspector who befriended Wonder Woman when she made Boston her home.

It’s notable that Pascal and Palicki have more chemistry together than Palicki and her cast member Justin Bruening as Steve Trevor. Maybe if things had gone forward, there would’ve been a love triangle. Alas, we’ll never know.

The pilot also had more big names within the cast including Cary Elwes as Henry Detmer, who ran Diana’s company and Elizabeth Hurley as Veronica Cale, a shady pharmaceutical CEO and Diana’s rival. It’s so mind-blowing to me still to this day that they had these big names in the cast and they weren’t able to do anything with it. Granted, the pilot is pretty terrible but still!

As mentioned, the pilot was never aired and it actually wasn’t finished, as you can see wires on stunt guys and unfinished textures on the lasso of truth. If you ever come across it, just know that it’s not complete and it’s honestly pretty weird. As a Wonder Woman fan like myself, I’m sort of glad it never aired.
