Carl Weathers could return to The Mandalorian sooner than you think
By Meg Dowell
As excitement for season 1 of The Bad Batch winds down following its recent finale and hype for Star Wars: Visions ramps up, questions about The Mandalorian season 3 release date still linger. The Book of Boba Fett is still expected at the end of this year, but we’ve been left in the dark about when we might see Din Djarin and co. again. Though, a key player in the show’s development may have just given us a hint at some of the answers we’ve been looking for.
A recent Steel City Con panel discussion implied not only that filming on The Mandalorian begins next month, but also that Carl Weathers will return to both of his roles in front of and behind the camera — at least according to the actor himself.
At the end of the panel, Weathers assured fans that filming will begin on “a new season of The Mandalorian … in the next month.” (The con took place the weekend of Aug. 16.) Which would mean that sometime in September, the third chapter of the hit Disney+ series will kick-off.
Though, we don’t know which characters and actors will return to the series in season 3, according to Weathers, we’ll definitely be seeing Greef Karga again.
You can watch the full panel below.
Weathers ended the panel by speaking to how much The Mandalorian means to him and how proud he is of what the cast and crew have created.
“I hope you all stay on the lookout for it, watch it, support it, please… I’m not just proud of my work, I’m really proud of the show and to be a part of it.”
And that’s why it’s so easy to love not only his character but the stories he gets to tell as a director. When passionate people get to continue working on projects they love, especially in Star Wars, it shines through in everything they do. Weathers makes a delightful addition to the show, and we can’t wait to see him back in action.
The Mandalorian season 3is expected to drop on Disney+ sometime in 2022.
