Comic books have long been viewed as collectibles reserved only for a select demographic even within various sci-fi fandoms. But in the past several years, Star Wars comics have more than proven that, like all stories in the franchise, these short-form adventures are suitable for all.

IDW’s Star Wars Adventures comics, for example, cater to younger audiences but still feature familiar characters all ages will recognize such as characters from the original trilogy. And Marvel’s recent Darth Vader comic has explored much darker themes as its main character wrestles with the aftermath of the worst of his crimes.

The HIgh Republic era has ushered in a variety of stories overall for everyone to enjoy, both within the comics realm and in the books published alongside. This week, The High Republic Adventures will feature characters familiar to the era geared toward slightly younger eyes. Star Wars Adventures will do the same with Luke Skywalker as the main face of the issue.

Later this year, Daniel José Older’s Trail of Shadows miniseries will follow several Jedi on an undercover spy mission set in The High Republic. So if you’ve ever wanted a story about Force-sensitive detectives hunting for clues in space, you’ve found your comic to pre-order next.

All current Star Wars comic runs will continue through the rest of 2021 offering a variety of options, including The High Republic, Bounty Hunters, Doctor Aphra (2020), Star Wars (2020) and Darth Vader (2020). There’s a character, era, and even set of writers and artists for all.

StarWars.com also just announced a brand-new Marvel one-shot comic featuring everyone’s favorite Wookiees. Star Wars: Life Day #1 will tell four stories set at different points along the in-universe timeline. Cavan Scott and Justina Ireland’s stories will remain in the High Republic era, their current main playground. So yes — Burryaga and Chewbacca both get their respective spotlights in many panels to come.

If you’ve always wanted to get into Star Wars comics, now’s the time — there’s plenty to choose from no matter your favorite things.
