19. Daniel Kaluuya
I’ll keep this simple here: Daniel Kaluuya is one of my favorite actors in the business. Coming into it later than others, Kaluuya had many promising roles in the early part of the century across television, particularly in England, and as a supporting actor in mainstream works such as Black Mirror and Sicario.
However, many individuals, myself included, were not widely exposed to Kaluuya until 2017’s Get Out. There, he not only earned an Academy Award nomation for Best Actor but blew up as a household name as well. From then on, he appeared in projects such as Black Panther, Queen & Slim and Judas and the Black Messiah. He became the seventh-youngest actor to, this time, win an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor in the latter.
It only feels like a matter of time until Kaluuya makes the jump to the top of a major franchise like Star Wars. And it doesn’t hurt that a good deal of Star Wars filming happens at Pinewood Studios, already located right near his backyard in West London.
