Will Pedro Pascal’s The Last of Us come out before The Mandalorian season 3?

Pedro Pascal has been a very busy actor these last few years. Appearing on everything from Game of Thrones to Wonder Woman 1984, the actor always seems to have something to do. And come next year, Pascal will have two more big projects he’s working on for us to look forward to.

Of course, one of those happens to be The Mandalorian season 3, which we’re waiting extra long to get. Seasons 1 and 2 were only about a year apart. But with The Book of Boba Fett coming out at the end of this year, that means we’ll have to wait until 2022 for the series to continue with season 3.

Then, on top of that, Pascal has a brand new series coming out on HBO. No, it isn’t an Oberyn Martell spinoff. Pascal will be co-leading The Last of Us series, which is a television adaptation of the video game of the same name. Set during a zombie apocalypse, Pascal’s character, Joel, encounters a young girl named Ellie (Bella Ramsey), who may be the key to creating a cure against the outbreak. Joel is then tasked with delivering her to a place where they can work with Ellie to create said cure, but the road to that location isn’t easy.

Both series have 2021 filming dates (and will likely demand a lot of Pascal’s time), but which will come out first?

Release dates for The Mandalorian season 3 and The Last of Us

Currently, neither show has a release date. But thanks to some hints about filming and production, we can tell which will be coming out first.

According to The Mandalorian’s Carl Weathers, he anticipates that filming for season 3 will begin this September. That means the series will be on track for a 2022 release date. Typically, The Mandalorian premieres at the end of the year. And with other shows like Andor and Obi-Wan Kenobi having already been filmed, The Mandalorian will likely be the last of those (no pun intended) to come out.

The Last of Us, according to Collider, has already begun filming as of July of this year. But the series isn’t expected to completely wrap up filming until June 2022. So, as they estimate in the story, that means The Last of Us probably won’t come out until the middle of 2023.

So, with the series coming out a few months apart from one another, that means we’ll get back-to-back Pedro Pascal within the next year. First, The Mandalorian season 3 and then The Last of Us. And if we’re lucky, he may even have a cameo in The Book of Boba Fett later this year. We’ll just have to wait and see!
