Star Wars has always been more fantasy than science fiction. But in these dark times, real science has given us a galaxy far, far away-themed gift of hope we’ve all desperately needed: Star Wars weddings are on the rise. Nerds are still falling in love. It’s beautiful. “Across the Stars” is somehow playing in the background? It’s fine.

According to a new Taylor & Hart study, Star Wars-themed weddings were the No. 1 trend when examining the most popular ceremony themes. Marvel, Game of Thrones, and Lord of the Rings were close behind.

Based on trends in Google searches, there’s been a reported 90 percent increase in demand for Star Wars-themed weddings specifically over the past 12 months. This is likely due to skyrocketing popularity of shows like The Mandalorian and the growing number of Star Wars projects in the works, from TV shows to books and even more movies.

To show their craftsmanship, Taylor & Hart designed concept rings for those nerdy wedding themes. For the Star Wars ring, they imagined it as: “A bold signet ring that pays tribute to the Star Wars series with a strong platinum setting sculpted with a double… helmet motif which is topped by a black sapphire surrounded by shimmering diamond pavé.”

Star Wars weddings are in demand

It certainly helps that Star Wars is as much about love as it is about war, greed, and blowing things up. Han and Leia, Anakin and Padmé, Rey and Ben – none of these couples had an easy time of it. But they proved that love really can make the harsh distances of expansive galaxies feel smaller, prevail over fear, and save the world.

Incorporating Star Wars into your wedding can be as simple as your music selections (“Across the Stars” is still on repeat? How?) and as ambitious as modeling your wedding dress after your favorite character’s outfit. Or both. And so much more. It’s really up to you.

Whether you’re in the early stages of wedding planning or still keep that Pinterest board you started making an embarrassing number of years ago (you were single then, don’t lie), there’s always room for a galaxy far, far away in your means of celebration.
