Elijah Wood shares he’s totally ready to join the MCU or Star Wars live-action universe

In recent years, the Star Wars and Marvel universes have seen their share of legendary actors sign onto some of their best projects — whether it be for films or television. And now, Elijah Wood is ready to be one of the next legendary actors to be a part of those families.
For Wood, this definitely isn’t new territory. The actor is widely known for portraying the role of Frodo Baggins in the Lord of the Rings movies from the early 2000s. And while he got to play the role in three films, that’s peanuts now, compared to the long tenures some of the MCU and Star Wars actors have been pulling.
Wood expressed this to Entertainment Tonight, where he shared his enthusiasm for joining these movie franchises:
"I think that’s just inherently fun… I haven’t had a chance to play in a giant sandbox in a while…Star Wars gets precedent because I’m a huge Star Wars fan. So more of that, certainly in the live-action sphere, would be awesome. But working on a Marvel film, I mean, there’s obviously a whole conversation that happens certainly in film Twitter about sort of the cinematic relevance of Marvel. Is it cinema? All this sort of sh*t. And whether you like superhero movies or not, they are inherently fun. And those movies are extremely well made."
Elijah Wood in Star Wars
Of course, we’re a little bias to Mr. Baggins himself leaving the Shire for a galaxy far, far away. In fact, Elijah Wood has already had a voice acting role in Star Wars, so that’s a start! In the animated series Star Wars Resistance, he played the character Jace Rucklin, who appeared in a handful of episodes.
And based on past experience, we know there’s plenty of space for actors to play the characters they’ve voiced in a live-action capacity. We’ve seen this with Katee Sackhoff, who’s voiced and played Bo-Katan Kryze. And we may also see this with Lars Mikkelsen, who voiced Grand Admiral Thrawn in Star Wars Rebels.
Still, that isn’t to say Wood couldn’t play another role. The actor isn’t widely known for his role in Star Wars Resistance, so we’re sure that wouldn’t conflict with him getting a separate live-action role as well. Plus, with so many more Star Wars series and movies coming out in the future, there should be no shortage of roles that he could fill.
But, since he’s also expressed interest in being in the MCU, we could totally see him as a part of the superhero family. He’s a very skilled actor, so he’d be a good fit, no matter what TV series or movie he joins.
