After seeing the trailer for The Matrix Resurrections that debuted this Thursday, it reminded us about how much we love Keanu Reeves. Not only that (of course), but how much we’d love to see him in Star Wars. Could the Keanussance pass through the galaxy far, far away?

Let’s briefly discuss why he’d make a perfect candidate for a role.

For one, all of his latest roles have escalated their franchises with his involvement. The John Wick franchise? Only works because it’s him. His return as Neo? Of course! The role was perfect for him and it should remain with him.

What about Cyberpunk 2077? The game may be buggy, but it led to this moment that makes us all love him that much more.

Am I focusing too much on his action side? Possibly, but I think that ties in really well as to where we could see him among the galaxy. I’d be interested in seeing him play a Jedi in a sage role, similar to that of Yoda. Someone calm, collected but really knows how to whip around a lightsaber. It’s what works best in his wheelhouse.

Why we want to see Keanu Reeves in Star Wars

Not only that, but fans have previously imagined him joining with fan art of the actor as Knights of the Old Republic character Darth Revan. Take, for instance, this photo that artist Yadvender Singh Rana drew of him on Instagram.

While it may be too late for him to jump onto the third season of The Mandalorian and the upcoming Obi-Wan Kenobi productions, it shouldn’t rule him out in joining one of Lucasfilm’s high-budget television series. While 90 percent of his work is in film, seeing him on the smaller screen every week could boost his star power and the show’s popularity even further.

If not, there seems to be a lot of open opportunities for the films. Since the upcoming slate is pretty secretive, he could join in any of them. If I may continue to project my own opinion, if Keanu Reeves doesn’t enter the television sphere, seeing him team up with Taika Waititi and his untitled film would be wonderful to behold. We know Reeves isn’t afraid to step into comedic shoes like his role as an exaggerated version of himself in 2019’s Always Be My Maybe. It could definitely work.

The main point that I’m trying to get at is that no matter where you put Keanu Reeves in the Star Wars universe, he’s going to excel. It would boost not only his own celebrity, but the franchise itself would be raised. Rumors have swirled that he may be involved at Lucasfilm and honestly, it would be silly if they didn’t cast him. Plus, he’s already in Disney’s good graces. The fans want to see it. Make it so!
