Coming soon to a shelf near you: George Lucas! For all the Star Wars collectors out there, and especially the Star Wars: The Black Series collectors, Hasbro has just the drop for you.
StarWars.com revealed today that none other than George Lucas, the creator of Star Wars, is getting an awesome Black Series figure of himself. The action figure is officially called George Lucas (in Stormtrooper Disguise). And just as it says on the box, this 6-inch collectible Lucas poses as a stormtrooper for the Empire — coming with a helmet and a stormtrooper blaster.
On the box itself, you see the branding for Lucasfilm’s 50th anniversary — which is the reason this figure was created in the first place, to honor Lucas and his legacy at Lucasfilm. And the box also features the classic Kenner logo, so it feels like you’ve acquired a true, vintage Star Wars toy… even if it will be released in 2022.
You can see the photos of the new George Lucas Black Series figure ($26.49) below. And if you want one for yourself, pre-orders are available now on Amazon.
George Lucas (in Stormtrooper Disguise)
As StarWars.com mentions, George Lucas has seen a few iterations of himself as an action figure in the past. This includes the Jorg Sacul action figure from Hasbro in 2002. And he even got an action figure of himself as Baron Papanoida (his cameo character from Revenge of the Sith) in 2006.
Previously, Hasbro also honored The Clone Wars boss Dave Filoni with a Black Series action figure. Though, technically, the action figure was that of Trapper Wolf — the character Filoni plays in The Mandalorian. So while it’s a special figure indeed, it’s not quite the same as Lucas getting an action figure with his likeness as a stormtrooper made.
At this rate, it’d be cool to see Hasbro make Black Series figures of other Star Wars creators as well. I’d be partial to a Taika Waititi action figure if they decided to honor the upcoming Star Wars director in the near future.
