It’s Oct. 1, and that means Disney is officially kicking off the celebration of Walt Disney World’s 50th anniversary.
There are a lot of celebrations to be had all throughout the parks, not just at the Magic Kingdom. And that includes Disney’s Hollywood Studios, the home of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge and the sort-of-home to the Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser hotel.
And while we’ve been getting plenty of updates throughout the year about the hotel — including the expensive price point for a full stay — we haven’t seen much from the inside of the hotel. Though, now, Disney has previewed just one room from the Galactic Starcruiser — and that’s the bridge for the starcruiser that you’ll be on, the Halcyon.
On Thursday, Disney released a video teasing some of the big reveals happening as part of their 50th-anniversary celebration. And during that video, one of the Disney Imagineers appeared in the Halcyon’s bridge to preview the area. In the video, she revealed that there will be a time where guests get to have bridge training as a part of the immersive experience. And there may even be a time when that training comes in handy later in the trip where guests get to man the bridge themselves.
You can see the whole segment in the YouTube video below, starting around the 30:40 mark.
Galactic Starcruiser opening date
As seen in the tweet from the Orlando Informer, yes, there is an official take-off date for the Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser. Disney announced voyages will be starting on March 1, 2022.
And if you do happen to want to book a trip as soon as possible, booking will open up on Oct. 28, 2021. You can head over to the Galactic Starcruiser website, where you can book your stay and get more information.
I’ll be looking forward to seeing the rest of the hotel, though. While the bridge is certainly exciting, the hotel will certainly have to prove itself so that guests can justify the price of the trip.
